Sex and Health…Now that
I have your attention!
Would you like to lower your cholesterol?
Increase your circulation?
Live longer?
Have fun while burning calories?????
If you answered ‘yes’ to any of the above questions
read on and hold on to your hats!
In the speaking industry I get to do a lot of research for
my topic areas of stress, energy and leadership. With stress
we are always looking at ways to battle the stress hormones
that remain in our system after times of physical or emotional
stress in our lives. From our previous e-zine newsletters we
have learned that the stress hormone cortisol is extremely
tough on our system and it is making us sick.
So, how do we decimate this villain??? E – S – L – no,
not English as a Second Language – I’m talking
about the stress… Wendy Bodnar’s ESL
Program –
Exercise, Sex and Laughter!
Each of these activities release beta endorphins – the
hormones in exact opposition to the stress hormone cortisol
and seritonin your ‘feel good’ hormone. With stress
busting ESL, you really have stress right where you want it – on
your terms. Now if you have a funny, energetic, sexual partner,
you could get all three at once! I’m just kidding; I
actually just want to see if anyone is reading this article.
On the serious side, we know that the researchers are predicting
that over 90% of our illnesses in the next decade will be directly
attributed to unmanaged stress in our lives. So, why be a statistic
when you can battle stress with exercise, a good laugh and
great, safe, monogamous sex?
In this e-zine special I will share the latest research on
the benefits of a healthy sex life – not only a stress
must, but a longevity enhancer as well. This is not a ‘how
to’ article, that is up to you and your partner. This
is a ‘why’ article.
Here are a few of the health benefits of regular (minimum
3 times per week – national average – once per
week) sex:
- Increased circulation
- Improved levels of cholesterol
- Decreased risk of prostate problems
- Decreased risk of heart disease
- Improved sleep
- Better immune system
- Slows the aging process
Michael F. Roizen, M.D., author of the ‘The RealAge
Makeover’ says that, ‘several studies have indicated
that having high-quality sex more frequently could make your
real age two to eight years younger.’ Two to eight
years younger! Just by enjoying intimacy with your
loved one – that seems like a great health trade off
to me. Dr. Michael looked into a lot of research on the subject
for the book, he also shared that he has even prescribed
more and better quality sex for many of his patients, on
an actual prescription form. He realized that they didn’t
need to try any more diets, take more vitamins, rather, to
enjoy the benefits of safe monogamous sex to extend their
lives.
Some Sex Facts:
- The national average: once per week
- Married people tend to have more sex than single people
- Men who had sex more than once a week had lower death rates
from all causes
- According to the Masters and Johnson’s study they
found that both men and women burn 7 – 25 calories
per orgasm
- Women burn more calories when they are on top and if they
fake it (don’t shoot the messenger)
- Men, really don’t care about quality – it’s
all about the quantity (we needed research for this?)
Well have I convinced you yet?
Let’s add great safe sex to our 30 minute a day exercise
commitment – no
excuses!
